Tips To Help Moving To Your New Home Go Smoothly

Moving to a new home is exciting, and for some stressful at times. To help avoid any unneeded stress plan ahead and follow these tips to ensure the move to your new Eastern Pennsylvania home goes smoothly.

Movers- First determine if you will be moving everything yourself or if you will be hiring a moving company to help. If you will be hiring a moving company, carefully do research before choosing the company that is right for you. The last thing you want is the movers to not show up on time or be careless with your valuables.  Make sure the moving company is licensed.  Check their record with the Better Business Bureau.

Organization Is Key- When it comes to moving the more organized you are the better. When packing, label each box with its contents and where it needs to go in your new home.  Most importantly be ready when the movers arrive if you have hired a company to help

Plan Ahead- Chances are after a day of moving you won’t feel up to emptying all those boxes. Prior to packing, create an overnight bag so you are not left searching through boxes for your essentials such as toiletries and clothes.

Pack Securely- Securing your breakable items to withstand a move should be a priority.  If you need extra padding for those glassware items use some of your clean socks.  Trust us, it works! Your breakable plates will be less likely to be damaged if they are packed vertically into a box.

Notify Everyone-  If you are planning a big move it’s safe to say you’re probably preoccupied with all the moving tasks that you may forget to inform all the necessary people of your upcoming move.  Prior to moving you naturally want to notify your close friends and relatives. However, here is a more detailed list of those you should notify.

• Your current employer
• The post office
• Your utility company
• The DMV
• Your financial intuitions
• Your insurance companies
• If you are leasing notify your landlord in ample amount of time
• If you are moving out of your current geographical area notify your medical doctors so all your records can be transferred to your new location.
• Notify any companies you have a subscription to such as magazines, newspapers, or food delivery
