Summer Home Maintenance Tips

Welcome to summer!  This warm season is the perfect time to tackle some work around the house.  Here are a few tips for summer maintenance around your home.

Dryer Vents

The dryer in your home can cause a fire if it is not properly maintained. Each year there are nearly 16,000 home fires that are a result of a dryer.  Dryers can easily become clogged as a result of lint and dust. Prevent a fire and prolong the use of your dryer by cleaning your dryer vent tubing.  This can easily be done with the help of a vent-cleaning brush.  Clean the dryer’s lint trap and remove as much lint as possible. Don’t forget to clean the vent on the exterior of the home as well.

Gutters

Debris can quickly accumulate in your home’s gutters through the winter and can cause damage. Summer is the perfect time to drag out your ladder and clean out any visible debris in your gutters. To prevent future buildup, consider installing a wire mesh guard that keeps debris out.

Air Conditioning Tune-Up

With the temperatures heating up your home’s air-conditioner is working overtime.  Now is the time to get your AC unit tuned up if you haven’t already.  To help reduce your utility bills and help your AC run easier, change out your air filters on a monthly basis.

Exterior

To maintain your home’s exterior it needs to be cleaned on a regular basis.  Pressure washing the walls of your home is the easiest way to clean it. This removes any stains, dirt, or mildew that may be on the home.
