Spring Cleaning With Kids
The warmer air and longer days make us want to open up the windows and let the sunshine in. Many get spring fever this time of year and are ready to tackle some spring cleaning in their home. If you have kids there is no reason they can’t get involved in helping you with some spring cleaning. Here are some fun tips to help you tackle spring cleaning with your kids.
Great Music
You can make nearly anything you do seem more fun when accompanied with great music. Grab your kid's favorite songs, turn up the radio, and you will be surprised how quickly your child becomes interested. Hand them the mop or duster and let them join along while rocking out to some of their favorite tunes.
Incentives
Helping out around the house is the job of everyone who lives there, but offering up an incentive such as their favorite treat, can be a good way to help them get involved. Working for an incentive is a positive experience for your kids.
Choices
No one really likes to be told what to do, especially kids. When it comes to spring cleaning provide your kids with choices. Allow them to choose what task they want to help with. When offered a choice, kids tend to be happier when doing their task while building confidence in what they are capable of doing.
Out With The Old
If looking around your house you discover that you have accumulated a lot of stuff this past fall and winter, now would be the time to get rid of items you no longer need. Encourage your kids to donate their unused toys to those who are less fortunate.
Dress Up
Kids love dressing up and playing pretend. Turn cleaning into fun by providing some accessories for your kids to wear such as rubber gloves or overalls. Anything you can think of to dress them up in while having fun will work.
Spring cleaning isn’t always the most fun thing to do and we know a few who absolutely hate doing it. These were just a few simple ways you can liven up this boring activity and enjoy it with your kids.
