Philadelphia has some beautiful locations that are perfect for a cycling adventure with your little ones. Check out our list and try a few of these favorite Philly spots for yourself! We promise you (and your bike riders) will be glad you did.
Locust Walk at the University of Pennsylvania- If you’re looking for a path that’s completely removed from any traffic, this is the path for you. Kids will enjoy the opportunity to bike on this path and adults will enjoy a walk through the University of Pennsylvania campus.
Martin Luther King Jr. Drive- Coming back soon! On weekends in the months of April-October, MLK Boulevard shuts down allowing pedestrians and cyclist to trek through this city street. Start at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and follow along the Schuylkill River.
Forbidden Drive- This trail is a favorite in Philadelphia and all of Pennsylvania. It was recently voted the best trail in the state. This trail might be best for older cyclists because of some less than stable gravel groundcover. Once your bike rider is old enough, the whole family will enjoy a trek through the Wissahickon.
Delaware River Trail- This 1400-foot-long trail travels along the Delaware River. It’s a great spot that’s in the buzz of the city but features bike and pedestrian paths that are separated from the street by a landscaping and a curb.
Pennypack Trail- Another trail for more experienced riders. Check out this northwest Philadelphia trail to enjoy some uninterrupted views of Pennsylvania’s wild side.
John Heinz Refuge Trail- If you want to get away from everything without leaving the city, check out this trail. Check out the Tinicum Marsh and beautiful nature vistas with the family on this trail.
Kelly Drive- Featuring some awesome hills that your mini-Lance Armstrong is sure to love, this path on the Schuylkill River Trail is a popular path for Philadelphians.
