Spring cleaning season is almost upon us! The Herculean task of deep cleaning every room can overwhelm even the most naturally tidy person. It helps to employ a few cleaning hacks to make the job just a bit easier.

These cleaning hacks will save you time, do the job better, and some of them are even fun! Make your spring cleaning easier with these fantastic hacks.

  1. Vacuum Your Bathroom- Your bathroom is home to tons of hair and dust. Cleaning experts recommend cleaning your bathroom with a vacuum attachment before spraying cleaners. This removes all the dry dirt and grime before moisture gets introduced. It will cut your cleaning time in half and will leave you with a cleaner bathroom.

  2. Shine Your Stainless with Baby Oil- Clean your stainless steel like normal. Then use a dry cloth with a dab of baby oil to shine your stainless surfaces. Work in the same direction as the stainless and buff in the oil to keep fingerprints at bay.

  3. Deep Clean Your Dishwasher with Vinegar- Run a cycle in your dishwasher with a cup of vinegar on the top and bottom racks. This deodorizes and helps to remove buildup left behind in your dishwasher.

  4. Clean Your Hair Tools with Nail Polish Remover- Is your straightener looking gunky from all those products? Wipe the plates with a bit of nail polish remover to remove built up hair products. Be sure to wipe away any polish remover residue before using. A damp paper towel is sufficient!

  5. Use Dryer Sheets to Clean Your Oven Grates- This hack is a viral sensation. Place towels in the base of your tub (this will prevent scratching) and place your oven grates on top. Fill the tub with extra hot water, dish soap, and dryer sheets. Allow to soak for 5-8 hours. When you remove the grates, the grime will wipe away easily!

  6. Use a Pillowcase to Clean Ceiling Fans- Insert ceiling fan blades into the pocket of a pillowcase. Gently wipe to remove the dust from your ceiling fan blades and keep it contained in one place.

  7. Use Ice and Lemons to Freshen Your Disposer- Run a lemon half along with some ice cubes in your disposer to freshen it up. The citric acid in lemons will deodorize while the ice will help to remove gunk.

  8. Make Wood Scratches Disappear- No matter how often you clean your coffee table, those scratches make it look messy. Fill in wood scratches with a matching permanent marker. This will camouflage the scratches in seconds.

  9. Don’t Clean Windows on a Sunny Day- If you wipe your windows on a sunny day, you’ll be left with streaks. The sun makes the cleaner evaporate faster, often leaving unsightly streaks on your windows. Wait until it’s overcast and your glass cleaner will work like a charm!

  10. Line Your Trash Can, Thank Yourself Later- Place a folded paper towel into the base of your trash can. This will help to catch any spills and make easy work of cleanup when necessary.

  11. Steam Clean Your Microwave- A cup of water with 1/2 cup of vinegar can be microwaved for 2-3 minutes to steam and deodorize your microwave. Once the steam has had a chance to work, just wipe down the inside of the microwave to remove splatters with ease.

  12. Clean Shower Glass with a Miracle Recipe- 1 part dish soap and 1 part vinegar removes limescale and leaves shower glass sparkling once again! Spray or wipe on the mixture and allow to sit for around 15 minutes before wiping away all that residue.

  13. Use a Pumice Stone to Remove Pet Hair- If you wipe a pumice stone over upholstered areas, it will help to remove pet hair in seconds!

  14. Remove Your Toilet’s Water to Get Things Super Clean- Before scrubbing the toilet, use your plunger to lower the bowl’s water level by plunging out the water. This will allow your cleaners to work without getting diluted by the bowl’s water.

  15. Use a Soap Wand for Almost Effortless Bath and Shower Cleaning- Fill up a soap wand with your cleaner of choice (we love the 1:1 vinegar and dish soap cleaner for tubs) and scrub with ease!
